  Sign Planning
Let's Get Started!

There are a few thing to consider while planning. While you and your church are probably anxious to get the message out, certain legal, structural, and esthetic concerns should be addressed early on. The following is a Step-By-Step planner which will, address most of these issues.

  Step 1 - Determine Best Readability - Letter Size

The Size of your sign is greatly determined by the speed of traffic & setting of you sign on the lot. The Basic Design criteria is to determine the Best Letter Size for the Speed of Cars moving past your sign. There are (2) basic rules to follow here;

1) Letters too small, cannot be read & will be ignored

2) Letters too big restrict the message area of the sign and greatly increase the cost of the sign,

  Step 2 - Determine Best Proportion - Sign Size

The Actual Size of the sign should coincide the appropriate letter size, as you have determined above. The following Chart illustrates a practical size for your letter size. Again, you may want a larger sign, or your community may restrict you to a given size, but this is a good starting place.

  Step 3 - Sign Mounting Options
How your sign is supported may vary depending on preference, budget, esthetic of church, local restrictions or even an existing condition. Each Condition will be slightly different, but you can choose one of the following (4) options.

Yoke Mount Sign

One of the least expensive options. This mounting has an open base & clean look about it. Installation is simple for most churches. Columns are made from Structural Steel (not cheap aluminum columns) for strength and safety.

Yoke Mount with Cowling

This mounting has an "In-Filled" base panel for a popular look. Also simple for most churches to install. Columns are made from Structural Steel (not cheap aluminum columns) for strength and safety.

Masonry Base

This mounting (by owner) can match the brickwork of the church or be modified with decorative planters. Uriel Sign Company will assist your church with CAD drawings for your mason.

Wall Mount

Ideal for single face signs, or when you need the sign mounted on you existing building.
